Dr. Ayman Z. Matta is currently the surgeon director at the New York and New Jersey Eye Institute with locations in Rockland, Orange County New York, and Bergen County New Jersey. He serves on the board of Directors as well as the director of Department of Ophthalmology at Rockland Bergan Surgery Center in Montvale New Jersey. He is licensed to practice medicine and surgery in the states of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Florida. Dr. Matta completed medical school as well as the required internship at Ain Shams University School of Medicine. His residency was completed at following established institutions, the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, the Catholic Medical Center of Brooklyn and Queens, SUNY Stony Brook, and the Nassau University Medical Center. He then went on to complete a fellowship in Anterior Segment, Cornea, and Refractive at the Bucci Cataract & L aser Vision Institute located in Pennsylvania. Dr. Matta became board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Matta specializes in Cataract Surgery with and without Premium lntraocular Lenses including Crystal Lenses, Restor Lenses, Torie Lenses, and Tecnis Multifocal Lenses. He also has a defined proficiency in Refractive Surgery, Glaucoma, Corneal Transplants, medical and laser retina surgery, with an expertise in LASIK/LASEK, PRK, PTK, AK, and lens exchange therapy. He has been certified in GLORY LASIK by the International Society of Refractive Surgery C-LASIK by Bausch & Lomb, as well as certified in the Alcon Laser Vision Custom Cornea Excimer Laser System and VISX Excimer Laser System. Amongst all those specialties, Dr. Matta is also trained in various microkeratomes.
Dr. Matta is very active in a variety of well-known medical and ophthalmic associations. They include: The American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Medical Association, and The American College of Surgeons & Physicians, The American Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons, The International Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, The International Society of Cosmetic Laser Surgeons, the Associations for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, and the New York Ophthalmological Society. Even with all of the affiliations in diverse associations, constant in office patient flow and multiple surgical procedures, Dr. Matta strives to broaden his medical horizons by continuously finding efficient solutions for those who seek his medical expertise.
